Dean Custom Portraits
Hello! My name is Mary Dean, and I create realistic, one-of-a-kind, hand-drawn portraits and illustration from photographs. I offer commissioned artwork in graphite, charcoal and colored pencil.
Pencil portraits are a classic and stunning way to portray any subject, and my graphite (black & white) drawings match any decor. I enjoy working with animal photographs as well as people & objects and have found that pencils are the perfect medium for me personally. My ultimate goal is to achieve a likeness that you will appreciate instantly when you first view your new portrait.
Your fine art drawing can be customized, altering the clothing, hair or background from the original photo to perfect the finished product. Also, you can provide a variety of photos to complete a group portrait (see Montage), or have it drawn from one favorite photograph! I have had many clients request a group portrait of family members who never were able to pose together in a photograph, some of which have long since passed away. Needless to say, the finished artwork becomes a lasting and treasured memory. My own grandmother’s portrait (at right) was a gift to my mother; with prints of it given to my family members as a special gift they love and will remember her by.
A one-of-a-kind, hand-drawn portrait is also the perfect way to honor a pet (or pets) that have departed. A photo is all that is required to begin the process. Thanks for visiting me and best wishes!
